Octolune Grand Art Antarctica – Straw Marquetry, One of a Kind Edition 2023

The Octolune Grand Art Antarctica – Straw Marquetry, One of a Kind Edition 2023 is a singular artistic expression born from the Antarctica Project, a tribute to one of the most pristine and powerful landscapes on Earth. Conceived and crafted by artist V. Bove, this exceptional piece translates the silent majesty of Antarctica into an abstract vision of ice, light, and depth.
At the heart of the dial, an iceberg emerges in an abstract interpretation, sculpted through straw marquetry with remarkable sensitivity. Hand-cut fragments are meticulously assembled to capture the shifting refractions of polar light, evoking the way Antarctic ice fractures, glows, and dissolves into infinite nuances. As light moves across the surface, the dial comes alive, revealing crystalline flashes, soft gradients, and unexpected luminosity.
Minimal yet powerful, the composition balances tension and calm, solidity and fragility. The geometry remains restrained, allowing the material itself to speak, echoing the vast silence and raw purity of the Antarctic landscape. Each reflection feels organic, unrepeatable, and deeply connected to nature.
Limited to one single piece, ever, this Octolune Grand Art creation is impossible to reproduce. No fragment can be placed the same way twice, no light can reflect identically, and no iceberg is ever the same.
In dialogue with the Octolune case, the dial becomes a frozen moment in time, where contemporary watchmaking meets artistic contemplation. The result is a profound and timeless object, capturing the essence of Antarctica through light, matter, and emotion.

Artistic Craftsmanship
Discover the Art of Straw Marquetry
Rooted in centuries-old tradition and practiced today by only a select few, straw marquetry stands among the most demanding expressions of decorative craftsmanship. For this unique creation, the artwork is entirely executed by artist V. Bove, whose approach transforms the material into a study of light, texture, and rhythm. Each strand of straw is carefully split, flattened, and patiently assembled by hand, revealing a natural brilliance that no pigment can reproduce.
Through subtle variations in orientation, the surface comes alive with shifting reflections, changing character with every movement. Free from mechanization, V. Bove’s straw marquetry is an art of time and intuition, where precision meets emotion in a quiet dialogue between hand and material. Both resilient and fragile, the finished composition becomes a living landscape of light, making this piece truly one of a kind, and a testament to the enduring beauty of human craft.
