Octolune: The Octagonal 904L Automatic Watch by Schaefer & Companions

Octolune: The Octagonal 904L Automatic Watch by Schaefer & Companions

Octolune is a new octagonal creation by Schaefer & Companions, combining a sculptural 904L stainless-steel case, a sapphire crystal, a decorated ETA 2892 automatic movement and a handmade artisanal dial. Each watch is assembled in Switzerland and may be personalised on demand with any artistic dial collection from the Maison.

A New, More Minimal Expression of Schaefer & Companions

Schaefer & Companions introduces Octolune, a new watch design shaped by geometry, craftsmanship and restraint.

Developed from the recognisable sculptural architecture of the Solune, Octolune retains the Maison’s distinctive design language while offering a more refined and minimal interpretation.

The original twelve-sided bezel has been replaced by an eight-sided octagonal bezel. This new geometry simplifies the silhouette, softens its visual complexity and gives the watch a more balanced presence on the wrist.

Octolune is not a rejection of the Solune.

It is its architecture reduced to the essential.

The Symbolism of the Eight-Sided Bezel

The number eight has long been associated with balance, continuity and renewal. Its symmetrical form suggests a movement without a clear beginning or end, echoing the continuous passage of time.

For Octolune, the eight-sided bezel is both symbolic and structural.

Its clean octagonal lines frame the dial with precision, while giving the watch a quieter and more contemporary character. The design remains sculptural, but its expression becomes more restrained, fluid and versatile.

By simplifying the case, Schaefer & Companions responds to different tastes without abandoning its identity. Octolune offers the presence of an artistic watch through a shape that is easier to wear, more minimal and more discreet.

A Sculptural Case in 904L Stainless Steel

The Octolune case is crafted from 904L stainless steel, a high-performance alloy valued for its resistance to corrosion and its ability to receive particularly refined surface finishes.

Its architecture combines carefully defined volumes with delicate polished and brushed details. Light moves across the surfaces, revealing the transitions between planes, edges and curves.

Rather than using ornament for its own sake, every finishing detail serves the geometry of the watch.

The result is a case that feels architectural and expressive, yet clean enough to let the handmade dial remain at the centre of attention.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial while preserving its depth, colour and artisanal details.

A Decorated ETA 2892 Automatic Movement

Inside Octolune is the ETA 2892 automatic movement, recognised for its slim construction, reliability and refined mechanical architecture.

The movement receives decorative finishing in keeping with the character of the watch. Its automatic winding system allows Octolune to accompany its wearer naturally, translating daily movement into mechanical energy.

This combination of a slim automatic calibre and a sculptural case allows the watch to maintain a balanced profile while providing the comfort and practicality of an automatic mechanical watch.

Each Octolune is carefully assembled in Switzerland.

Handmade Artisanal Dials, Created on Demand

While the case has become more minimal, the artistic heart of Schaefer & Companions remains unchanged.

Every Octolune may receive a handmade artisanal dial, created through traditional craftsmanship or contemporary artistic techniques. Micro-painting, engraving, enamelling, straw marquetry and other métiers d’art can all be adapted to the new octagonal architecture.

On demand, any existing Schaefer & Companions collection may be presented within the Octolune case.

This flexibility allows collectors to select an artistic expression that reflects their own sensibility, while preserving the balance between contemporary watch design, traditional craftsmanship and mechanical watchmaking.

No two artistic interpretations need to feel the same.

The geometry remains constant. The artwork becomes personal.

Octolune: Eight Sides, Infinite Artistic Possibilities

Octolune represents a new chapter for Schaefer & Companions.

It preserves the iconic sculptural foundation of the Solune, but expresses it through fewer lines, a clearer geometry and a more minimal silhouette.

An octagonal bezel.

A delicately finished 904L stainless-steel case.

A sapphire crystal.

A decorated ETA 2892 automatic movement.

A handmade dial created by an artisan.

Octolune brings these elements together in a watch assembled in Switzerland and created for collectors who seek both artistic individuality and understated design.

Eight sides. One sculptural identity. Infinite possibilities.
