Schaefer & Companions at TimeFest Bordeaux 2026: Independent Watchmaking, Art and Meaningful Encounters

On 29 and 30 May 2026, Schaefer & Companions had the pleasure of taking part in TimeFest Bordeaux Vol. 3, one of France’s growing gatherings dedicated to contemporary and independent watchmaking.

Held at the Stade Atlantique in Bordeaux, the event brought together more than 80 watch brands for two days of discoveries, presentations, conferences, workshops and conversations with the public. More than a conventional watch fair, TimeFest was conceived as an open meeting place where brands, creators, collectors and enthusiasts could experience watchmaking through direct and personal exchange.

Unveiling Our Latest Watch Collections in Bordeaux

TimeFest Bordeaux 2026 gave us the opportunity to unveil our latest Schaefer & Companions collections and present the continuing evolution of our artistic and sculptural approach to watchmaking.

Visitors were able to discover our distinctive case designs, mechanical watches and handmade artisanal dials at close range. Each creation reflects the dialogue at the heart of our Maison: the encounter between contemporary design, mechanical watchmaking and traditional artistic craftsmanship.

A photograph can reveal a composition.

A technical specification can describe a movement.

But only a physical encounter can fully communicate the depth of a handcrafted dial, the changing reflections of a delicately finished case and the sculptural presence of a watch on the wrist.

At TimeFest, our watches were not simply displayed. They were observed, handled, discussed and experienced.

Meeting Authentic Watch Collectors and Enthusiasts

What made our presence in Bordeaux particularly meaningful was the opportunity to meet collectors and genuine watch enthusiasts face to face.

We were pleased to exchange with visitors who approached watchmaking with curiosity, knowledge and sincerity. Some were experienced collectors, familiar with movements, finishing techniques and the history of independent watchmaking. Others were discovering artisanal watches for the first time.

Each conversation brought a different perspective.

We discussed proportions, case architecture, mechanical movements, handmade dials, métiers d’art and the place of independent creation in today’s watch industry. We also listened carefully to personal reactions, preferences and questions.

These sincere exchanges are essential to Schaefer & Companions. They remind us that a watch is never defined by its technical characteristics alone. It also becomes part of the life, taste and personal story of the person who chooses to wear it.

TimeFest has established itself as a meeting place between independent watch brands and a growing community of enthusiasts. Its accessible format encourages visitors to speak directly with founders, designers and watchmakers, creating a form of proximity that is increasingly valuable within the watch industry.

Our work is built around human collaboration. Behind every watch are designers, technicians, decorators and specialised artisans whose individual expertise contributes to the final creation.

To explain the inspiration behind a design, reveal the handwork within a dial or hear an immediate reaction creates a relationship that no catalogue or digital presentation can replace.

Artisanal Dials at the Centre of the Conversation

Throughout the event, our handmade artistic dials naturally became a central subject of discussion.

Their textures, colours and subtle irregularities reveal the trace of the artisan’s hand. Depending on the creation, techniques such as micro-painting, engraving, enamelling or marquetry transform the dial into a unique artistic surface.

These details often require time to be understood.

Viewed from one angle, a dial may appear restrained. Under another light, new textures and reflections emerge. From close range, the precision and patience behind the work become visible.

We were particularly pleased to share these details with visitors who took the time to look closely, ask questions and understand the processes behind each piece.

Their interest confirmed something that remains central to our vision: traditional craftsmanship continues to resonate when it is presented with honesty and placed within a contemporary context.

Beyond the Watch Display

TimeFest Bordeaux was also an opportunity to discover the work of other independent watchmakers and exchange with fellow creators.

Bringing different brands together in the same space reveals the variety of today’s independent watchmaking landscape. Each Maison approaches time through its own proportions, movements, materials and visual language.

This diversity does not divide the watchmaking community. It enriches it.

Events such as TimeFest allow brands and collectors to move beyond comparisons based only on specifications. They create room to discuss intention, identity, craftsmanship and the ideas that give a watch its meaning.
