MÉDAILLON SOLARIS - STRAW MARQUETRY
The Solune Medallion – Solaris Straw Marquetry Edition explores lumière through a more intimate lens, a refined expression of Swiss métiers d’art where radiant geometry unfolds within the medallion at 6 o’clock, like a doorway to another universe.
Inside this sculptural frame, master artisan Sabine Aucoulon composes a miniature work of straw marquetry, hand-cut fragment by fragment. Chosen for their natural iridescence, the straws capture light as it passes, revealing subtle waves, shimmering accents, and gradients that shift from brilliance to softness.
Here, the Solaris identity becomes focused and dimensional: precise lines and harmonious angles form a compact choreography of expansion, drawing the eye inward as if the medallion itself were opening onto a luminous, expanding cosmos.
Every medallion is unique. No reflection repeats, no alignment returns, and no nuance of straw color is ever identical, each one a singular moment of light captured in time.
This concentrated artwork creates a compelling dialogue with the rest of the Solune dial: a quiet balance between minimal elegance and radiant detail, between the purity of the case and the depth of the medallion.
The result is an object of serene luminosity and timeless craftsmanship, offering a glimpse into the beauty of light contained within.
Also available in Octolune case.

Handcrafted artistic dial
The artistic value of this watch lies in its individually handcrafted dial. Created by Sabine Aucoulon using traditional métiers d’art techniques, every dial carries subtle variations resulting from the human hand and the materials used.
Reliable Swiss mechanical base
The watch is powered by the Swiss ETA 2892-A2 automatic calibre in TOP grade. This established movement was selected for its reliability, slim construction and long-term serviceability, allowing the handcrafted dial to remain at the centre of the creation.

WHERE STRAW BECOMES SUNLIGHT
Created as an exclusive collaborative edition with QoQa.ch, Solune Solaris extends the astral identity of the Maison through straw marquetry, geometric rhythm and reflected light.
Imagined with Sabine Aucoulon, the dial offers a modern and minimal interpretation of the sun. Fine strands of straw radiate from the centre, creating a composition inspired by solar rays and the movement of light.
The natural fibres respond continuously to their surroundings. As the wrist moves, reflections travel across the dial, shifting from soft luminosity to vivid brilliance and giving the impression of a living sun beneath the glass.
Solaris completes the celestial symbolism of Solune, introducing the energy of the sun into a case already shaped by the dialogue between the moon and the stars.
WHERE MATERIAL CAPTURES RADIANCE
LIGHT IN RADIANCE
Straw marquetry is a meticulous decorative art requiring patience, accuracy and a precise understanding of how each fibre reflects light.
Every strand is opened, flattened, selected and cut before being positioned individually. Its direction determines the movement of the reflection, allowing the dial to create a structured sunray pattern without applied colour or artificial brilliance.
The result is a surface that appears constantly illuminated. Depending on the angle, the dial reveals expanding rays, shifting contrasts and luminous flashes that seem to emerge from its centre.
This is where the Solaris concept becomes tangible: not as a static representation of the sun, but as light captured within a natural material and brought to life on the wrist.
THE MARQUETRY ARTIST’S HAND
Sabine Aucoulon brings together straw marquetry, artistic embroidery and contemporary design. With a background in fine arts, she has developed a practice defined by precision, sensitivity and a close understanding of natural materials.
Her work explores the relationship between texture, pattern and light. Each strand of straw carries its own tone and reflection, becoming an active part of the composition rather than a simple decorative element.
“Light is never fixed. It moves through the material and continuously transforms the work.”
For Solune Solaris, Sabine creates a radiant and restrained composition in which each line extends like a sunray. Through her hand, natural straw becomes a luminous expression of warmth, movement and celestial energy.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
AT A GLANCE
Every Schaefer & Companions creation is built around refined materials, architectural case finishing and handcrafted artistic dial techniques. Each detail is designed to combine mechanical precision with a strong visual identity.
SOLUNE AND OCTOLUNE CASE ARCHITECTURE
SCULPTED IN 904L STEEL, SHAPED BY LIGHT
Crafted from 904L stainless steel, the Solune and Octolune cases express the identity of Schaefer & Companions through geometry, light, and proportion.
Solune is designed as a sculptural watch case, with faceted surfaces and a sun-inspired bezel that reflect light across polished and satin-finished angles. On Grand Art editions, the inner bezel features an engraved moon cycle, framing the handcrafted dial with a discreet celestial signature.
Octolune offers a more restrained interpretation, with an eight-sided bezel and balanced geometry. Its polished facets, brushed surfaces, and 904L steel construction preserve the same play of light in a more minimal architectural form.
SCULPTURAL CASE PROFILE
FACETED SIDES AND ARCHITECTURAL LUGS
From the side, the case reveals one of its most distinctive features: a sculptural profile built around tension, depth, and precision. The case is not simply shaped to hold a movement and dial. It is designed as a small architectural object, where each bevel, edge, and transition contributes to the visual identity of the watch.
The lugs extend from the case with a strong yet fluid presence, giving the watch a bold silhouette while preserving comfort on the wrist. Their sculpted form creates a natural continuity between the case and strap, reinforcing the sense that every element has been drawn as part of the same artistic composition.
Through contrasting finishes, the side of the case becomes a surface of expression. Polished bevels catch the light sharply, while matte and brushed areas create depth and contrast. This balance between brilliance and restraint gives Solune and Octolune their distinctive presence: technical, artistic, and immediately recognizable.
ASTRAL HANDS
CELESTIAL TIME IN MOTION
Inspired by the cosmos, the Astral Hands complete the celestial identity of the Solune and Octolune collections. The hour and minute hands combine brushed and polished finishes, creating a refined contrast that enhances legibility while echoing the case’s play of light.
At the center, the seconds hand becomes a moving star. Shaped as a seven-pointed astral symbol, it turns endlessly above the dial, bringing the artwork to life with a continuous celestial motion. This rotating star transforms the reading of time into a poetic gesture, where every second becomes part of a wider orbit.
Together, the hands, case, and dial form a coherent artistic watchmaking language. They express the core vision of Schaefer & Companions: Swiss mechanical watches designed not only to measure time, but to frame handcrafted art, cosmic inspiration, and the beauty of uniqueness.
