Solune Grand Art Antarctica Engraving
Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout
The Grand Art edition pays homage to Swiss métiers d’art and the austere beauty of Antarctica. On a deep blue ground, master engraver Boris Némitz sculpts the dial entirely by hand—cut by cut—creating subtle reliefs that suggest wind-shaped ice, drifting ridges, and far horizons. No two dials are alike; each line and texture is a decision in metal.
Uniting time-honored burin technique with contemporary watchmaking, this creation offers sculptural light play, lasting character, and true rarity—crafted for collectors who value substance, craft, and soul.

Crafted by Hand, Each Dial is Unique
Antarctic Quiet, Engraved in Brass
Guided by the bond between nature and the inner life, Boris Némitz renders Antarctica in relief. On a deep blue ground, each dial is hand-engraved cut by cut—lines, cross-hatching and subtle planes that suggest frozen waves, pressure ridges and distant horizons. Light skims the grooves like wind across ice, revealing depth and quiet movement.
Every dial is singular—the angle of a cut, the spacing of a texture, the way blue meets metal—so the landscape never repeats. Still to the eye yet resonant, these surfaces hold emotion in reserve, echoing beneath the silence.
Artistic Craftsmanship
Discover the Art of Engraving
Ancestral and mastered by only a handful of artisans, hand engraving is reserved for the most exceptional timepieces. Each brass médaillon is cut entirely by hand by Boris Némitz—line by line with the burin—demanding patience, precision, and true artistic sensitivity.
From fine-line and bulino work to subtle relief, each technique reveals unmatched detail and a rich play of light and shadow. Built to last, engraving gives the piece depth, texture, and a character that time only enhances.
Far from industrialization, hand engraving remains a living art, guided by instinct, humility, and the steady hand of the craftsman. This invisible yet tangible soul is why it stands among the most respected métiers d’art in watchmaking.
Boris Némitz brings this ancient craft to life, carving meaning into metal—each stroke unique, each piece singular.

Our Artistic Companion
Boris Némitz

Boris Némitz has devoted his life to engraving—a calling discovered in 1980 and pursued professionally since 2000. Drawn to drawing, sculpture, and the expressive power of metal, he shapes raw material into living reliefs where light, shadow, and texture speak.
Working entirely by hand with the burin, Boris builds depth through fine lines, cross-hatching, and subtle planes. His precision and artistic sensitivity have led him to collaborate with renowned maisons, translating their visions into metal with clarity and emotion.
For the Antarctica médaillon, his engraving evokes movement and quiet energy: delicate contrasts, nuanced reliefs, and measured cuts suggest drifting ice, wind-scored surfaces, and distant horizons. Each line is intentional; each surface catches light in its own way—turning a frozen landscape into a scene that feels alive.
Through every piece, Boris safeguards a demanding métier d’art—patient, exacting, and profoundly human—leaving a signature that time only deepens.
