Solune Medallion – Dune Edition

The Solune Medallion Dune Edition offers a more intimate interpretation of the desert, where expansive landscapes are distilled into a singular, precious detail. Conceived in collaboration with Sean Paul Lorentzen, this edition translates his vision of the dunes into a quiet focal point at 6 o’clock, set against a warm Champagne dial created exclusively for this piece.

Within the sculpted medallion, Companion straw marquetry artist Sabine Aucoulon composes a miniature landscape inspired by sand shaped endlessly by wind and time. Each strand of straw is individually selected, cut, and placed by hand, valued for its natural luminosity and subtle tonal variations. As light moves across the surface, delicate reflections appear, evoking the soft shimmer of sunlit dunes.

The Champagne dial deepens this dialogue. Its refined hue recalls the heat and mineral richness of the desert, offering a serene counterpoint to the textured complexity of the medallion and reinforcing the sense of warmth and depth.

Here, the Dune identity becomes concentrated and tactile. Fibers, lines, and reflections establish a gentle rhythm that draws the eye inward, inviting contemplation, as if a fragment of landscape were momentarily suspended in time.

Each medallion is inherently unique. No composition can be repeated, no reflection precisely replicated, making every piece a singular expression of material, craft, and light.

Handcrafted artistic dial

The artistic value of this watch lies in its individually handcrafted dial. Created by Sabine Aucoulon using traditional métiers d’art techniques, every dial carries subtle variations resulting from the human hand and the materials used.

Reliable Swiss mechanical base

The watch is powered by the Swiss ETA 2892-A2 automatic calibre in TOP grade. This established movement was selected for its reliability, slim construction and long-term serviceability, allowing the handcrafted dial to remain at the centre of the creation.

When will I receive my watch?

SOLUNE DUNE, A COLLECTIVE JOURNEY THROUGH SAND, LIGHT AND TIME

The Solune Dune project was born from a unique collaboration between Schaefer & Companions and aBlogtoWatch, bringing together four Companions around one shared artistic vision. Inspired by the desert as a place of silence, movement and memory, the project explores how sand, light and time can be translated into contemporary watchmaking art.

Each Companion contributes a distinct creative language, from artistic direction and storytelling to hand-crafted dial work, material expression and poetic interpretation. Whether presented as Grand Art or Médaillon, Solune Dune becomes more than a watch: it is a collective work of horological art, where Swiss mechanical watchmaking serves as a frame for human creativity, craftsmanship and emotional contemplation.

CAPTURED WARMTH, IN STRAW

DUNES BEAUTY, SHAPED BY LIGHT

Guided by the dialogue between light, texture, and colors, Sabine Aucoulon translates the desert into the language of straw marquetry. Each dial is built from hand cut and delicately polished straw, revealing glowing Golden tones, golden sands, and mineral ochres that echo dunes bathed in sunlight.

As light sweeps across the surface, reflections unfold and transform, recalling the living movement of sand shaped by wind and heat. The compositions feel expansive and luminous, capturing the energy of the desert and the beauty of its ever changing patterns.

Every variation is unique. The angle of a strand, the meeting of hues, the play of light ensure that no landscape can be repeated. Rich to the eye and alive with depth, these dials express the desert’s warmth and the expressive power of natural material.

Each creation preserves a fragment of sunlit terrain, where craftsmanship and light come together to hold the essence of the dunes within time.

SCULPTURAL CASE PROFILE

FACETED SIDES AND ARCHITECTURAL LUGS

From the side, the case reveals one of its most distinctive features: a sculptural profile built around tension, depth, and precision. The case is not simply shaped to hold a movement and dial. It is designed as a small architectural object, where each bevel, edge, and transition contributes to the visual identity of the watch.

The lugs extend from the case with a strong yet fluid presence, giving the watch a bold silhouette while preserving comfort on the wrist. Their sculpted form creates a natural continuity between the case and strap, reinforcing the sense that every element has been drawn as part of the same artistic composition.

Through contrasting finishes, the side of the case becomes a surface of expression. Polished bevels catch the light sharply, while matte and brushed areas create depth and contrast. This balance between brilliance and restraint gives Solune and Octolune their distinctive presence: technical, artistic, and immediately recognizable.

SOLUNE AND OCTOLUNE CASE ARCHITECTURE

SCULPTED IN 904L STEEL, SHAPED BY LIGHT

Crafted from 904L stainless steel, the Solune and Octolune cases express the identity of Schaefer & Companions through geometry, light, and proportion.

Solune is designed as a sculptural watch case, with faceted surfaces and a sun-inspired bezel that reflect light across polished and satin-finished angles. On Grand Art editions, the inner bezel features an engraved moon cycle, framing the handcrafted dial with a discreet celestial signature.

Octolune offers a more restrained interpretation, with an eight-sided bezel and balanced geometry. Its polished facets, brushed surfaces, and 904L steel construction preserve the same play of light in a more minimal architectural form.

ASTRAL HANDS

CELESTIAL TIME IN MOTION

Inspired by the cosmos, the Astral Hands complete the celestial identity of the Solune and Octolune collections. The hour and minute hands combine brushed and polished finishes, creating a refined contrast that enhances legibility while echoing the case’s play of light.

At the center, the seconds hand becomes a moving star. Shaped as a seven-pointed astral symbol, it turns endlessly above the dial, bringing the artwork to life with a continuous celestial motion. This rotating star transforms the reading of time into a poetic gesture, where every second becomes part of a wider orbit.

Together, the hands, case, and dial form a coherent artistic watchmaking language. They express the core vision of Schaefer & Companions: Swiss mechanical watches designed not only to measure time, but to frame handcrafted art, cosmic inspiration, and the beauty of uniqueness.
